Community Outreach
Thank You for Your Support
As we approach the Holidays, we see that our local communities in the Triangle area and across this state need our help. At least 1 in 10 persons in Wake County are experiencing food insecurity. Nearly 18% of Wake County children live in food-insecure homes.
According to the Wake County Public School student data, during the 2022-2023 school year, 5,143 students were identified for the McKinney-Vento Program. In other words, these students did not have a consistent or stable place to stay from night to night.
The trend has been growing significantly over the past few years. At the point-in-time count in 2022, the homeless population on the streets was 1,534. Well, over 9000 people across this state are homeless on a given night. Over a third of these persons may be in families. Almost 300 are veterans who served in the military. There is a tremendous need during this time and throughout the year.
Wake Chapel Church in partnership with The Light 103.9 FM, will host a “Community Outreach Drive.”
This Community Outreach Drive for Hope will be an opportunity for those of us who are able, to help those who are less fortunate. Your donations will help families and individuals directly and support various shelters and non-profit organizations across Wake County, the Triangle metro area, and the state.
This drive will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 9 am until 12 pm at Wake Chapel Church Central Campus located at 3805 Tarheel Club Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. This drive will start at the same time as the church’s Community Food Distribution.
We will take women’s, men’s, and children’s clothes (winter preferable) which are clean and in very good condition. This also includes winter coats, underwear/undergarments, socks, hosiery, etc. We will accept clean blankets.
