And the barrel of meal did not run out, neither did the jar of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah. – 1 Kings 17:16
Mission: To encourage an increased faith that God supplies all needs, while maintaining the privacy, dignity, respect and esteem of the recipient.
Wake Chapel Church partnered with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and Zaxby’s of Knightdale to host a free food giveaway on Saturday, September 17th. People came from as far as Wilson and Cumberland County to receive much needed food for their families. Lines began forming as early as 7am to receive fresh produce, desserts and provisions to last for days. Volunteers from over 15 ministries at WCC served with joy and gladness; including the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from Unit 366 who carried over 8,000 pounds of foods for the elderly and anyone who needed assistance with getting the food to their vehicle.
Not only did attendees receive what they needed to be physically fed, they received what they needed to be spiritually fed, as well. The Prayer Warriors along with the Evangelism team had lines of people waiting to be prayed for and ministered to. This was truly a great event that showed help, hope and healing in action. Bishop J. Jasper Wilkins, II explained that “…we are fulfilling the mission that Jesus gave us. These kinds of things are the things that are necessary for us to be like Christ.”
The need to provide help to our community is great. It was very evident by the overwhelming amount of families and individuals who came to partake. The Outreach Ministry plans to have this event again in October and looks to be able to help more people!
